STILL ON THE THRONE

When was the last time you looked up into the night sky? Do you marvel at the complexity with which God placed each star in its place? Since the beginning of recorded history, mankind has searched both the heavens and the earth trying to discover more about this experience we call, “life.”

I invite you to take a few minutes to give thought to things like the seasons of the year, the precision with which our planet earth hangs in space at just the perfect distance from the Sun; the rotation of the earth in perfect synchronization with the moon and other planets in our galaxy. Like an orchestra Maestro, all of creation responds to God’s direction at just the right time.

So much has happened over the past six months in the world. Fear of both the known and unknown seems to have gripped much of humanity. The news media has very little good information to share, social media feels like it will implode with just the click of a button, and face masks are mandatory in every venue, including simply walking down the public street. What are we to do? Once again, I invite you to go outside tonight and look up. While chaos may feel like it is all around us with little cohesiveness anywhere, remember, God is the same today, tomorrow, and into eternity. “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Cor. 14:33, NIV).

Please take a moment to reread the Scripture verse in 1 Corinthians 14:33; these few words should instill a true sense of security within all of our hearts and minds. Let us not forget that God is still on His throne. He is not a distant God! He knows you and me intimately, just like the Creator He is; He loves us and desires only His very best. Knowing all of this about God, the only question is, will we put our trust in Him?

Almighty God, I ask of you in these crazy times, to fill us with the knowledge that you are worthy of our trust. You have never failed to provide for our every need and you will not fail us now or ever. Amen.
