RUN TOWARD GOD!

Everywhere we turn today, we hear cries of fear. “Corona Virus outbreak, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, tidal waves, human trafficking, child abductions, androids twice the size of earth headed our way,” and the list goes on and on and on…

Does all of the hype being sent out by the media make you want to pull the covers back over your head and hide? Friend, I am looking out my window at this very moment at a beautiful spring day! The daffodils are blooming in abundance, the forsythia bushes are bright yellow cascading over the wall; the wind reminds me that it is March and time for a few blustery days ahead. My family is safe and thriving and life is good. Could all of this change in a moment’s time? Yes, of course it can change; I have lived some very dark days here on this earth and I know that people suffer here. This is not heaven!

Unfortunately, television and radio get higher ratings when listeners are anxious and anticipating a catastrophe, like a world pandemic. We are reminded every waking moment of our human condition that we are going to die, which is true. Sometime! Scripture never leads the reader to believe we are in this place we call earth forever; to the contrary. God’s Word encourages us to live each day fully, with joy and anticipation for the fact that this world is not all there is. For the believer in Jesus Christ, “the best is yet to come!” If one chooses not to believe this promise from God, then why waste the time you do have here in this world worrying about things that probably will not affect you but if they do, you will deal with them?

My prayer is for everyone to believe in heaven and eternity. For sure, we have been given the gift of life. Even in the midst of sadness and tragedy, God’s love is very real and abundant. If fear threatens to overtake you, or even if it doesn’t, run toward God!
