Ownership!

Complete ownership…this is what God tells us about His position on the things of this world. Everything in this world and beyond belongs to God…EVERYTHING! Our possessions, our gifts and talents, successes or failures, our experiences whether good, bad or indifferent, these all belong to God. Our feelings even belong to God to do with as He sees fit.

A young man tells of a situation when he and couple of his friends had contracted to lease an apartment in the city. The landlord, as it turns out, was less than honorable at providing the proper amenities one might consider necessary, such as adequate heat and a healthy environment. He was quick to promise and slow to deliver! Now, we might think this situation to be the result of youth and lack of experience. On the other hand, why should trust be considered as foolishness instead of the natural result of promise and expectation?

Well, while I do understand the need to be cautious and maybe even a little jaded at times when it comes to trusting the words and ways of man, how thoroughly refreshing it is, knowing that God is always trustworthy! While He is our Ultimate Land-Lord, we never have to worry about “reading the fine print” or being blindsided by the unexpected. As a matter of fact, God is honorable even when we don’t deserve receiving all of His goodness. He freely gives to each one of us out of His abundance.

Regardless of our individual status in this world, whether rich or poor; healthy or ill, whether we have a roof over our head or we are homeless…God is faithful! The sun, moon and stars remain fixed in the heavens. The earth revolves around them. And, if these things are not enough, God promises, that even if all of these things fail to remain, He has provided for eternal life beyond this world we now know. And, just in case one might be tempted to be skeptical of such a wonderful amenity, God’s promise has been validated, “notarized” and made evident in the Downpayment of His Son, Jesus Christ.

“Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.” [Psalm 40:5 NASB] AMEN
To The One Who has made His covenant with us…

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” [Numbers 23:19 NLT]
