ETERNALLY FORGIVEN

“If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true.” We’ve all heard this said before, especially when someone promises something amazing will happen if you do “X.” This “something” is usually offered in exchange for money. Well, read closely the Scripture leading into this writing. God promises that he has “removed our transgressions,” “as far as the east is from the west.” AND, he asks nothing in return except that we receive it through Jesus Christ, the Deliverer.

As I listen to the news these days, there are so many different movements calling out people for past indiscretions; some that have happened many years ago and are just now coming to light. And, the television lawyers who promise a large sum of money to those who have been “injured” in some way, again, going back sometimes decades. I am not here to espouse judgment one way or the other. What I hope to do is contrast the loving and forgiving power of the Creator, who has every reason to bring judgment on humanity in general, yet he says, “no, I remove them with no limitations or loopholes.” WOW!!

I don’t know about you, but I am very grateful for God’s unconditional forgiveness! While we live in this world where our actions demand consequences to keep order, God invites us into his kingdom “as is.” Not that our indiscretions do not call for justice, because they do; Jesus embodied our sins and allowed them to be nailed to the cross. You and I cannot add to this gift or take away from it. All we can do is accept it and be thankful or reject it and suffer the consequences alone. What about you, friend? Will you accept God’s Gift of Jesus? Does it sound too good to be true? You will never know for sure until you say, “yes!”
